Upper Snowy Landcare Network is partnered with the Community Environment Network to deliver the Land for Wildlife Program. This program offers landholders the chance to receive funding to engage in conservation works on their land through the formation of a conservation agreement.
Landholders are invited to fill out an expression of interest form, after which, a property assessment will be conducted, which the landholder is invited to participate in. This on ground assessment compiles a large amount of information, including a comprehensive species list and the intended conservation plans of the landholder. Once this assessment is approved by the CEN, the property is registered as a LFW site.
The value of this program is multifaceted, allowing landholders to access funding for private land conservation, learn about their local biodiversity and the value of it, plan and engage in conservation to improve their farms, and build valuable networks. USLN has engaged with numerous landholders across the region and seen these values in action. The funding available can help cover costs of activities such as fence building, weed control and land rehabilitation through planting and erosion control.
